Hyderabad: The Telangana Private Medical College Association is indeed in a predicament with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-II (NEET-II) results and admission schedule out. It has to now decide whether to go along with the NEET II admission schedule or to hold its process for the Eamcet III one. The Eamcet III date of examination has been fixed for Sept 11.

The Telangana Junior Doctor’s Association are wanting the TPMCA to wait for the Eamcet-III results to be declared, where as the TPMCA itself would like to go ahead with the NEET II counselling schedule and join the counselling mainstream to fill its share of the management quota, a 35% share (700 seats).

As per schedule, the admission process for the all India central pool seats is to take place on 22nd August and for private management quota seats between 3-5 September.

Mr. C Laxmi Narsimha Rao, Convenor, TPMCA expressed interest in going ahead with the schedule for state quota admissions inclusive of private management seats between 3-5 September, as Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are exempted from giving 15% seats to the All India Central pool. Mr. Rao announced a Thursday meeting with all private colleges to discuss admission action plan for management quota seats..He made it clear that they could not wait for the EAMCET III results to be declared.

"The admission process for Eamcet-III will drag on for more than a month, which will upset the academic schedule of the entire first year MBBS batch if we postpone admissions for private management quota students. Every year, first year MBBS students are supposed to appear in final year theory exams in July and practicals in August, but there is no time left now," added Narsimha Rao.

TJUDA State President, Dr G Srinivas on the other hand stated that if management quota MBBS students joined prior to the convenor quota medicos of Eamcet III the latter would suffer a setback.

"It is better if admission process for both management quota and convener quota are conducted simultaneously, but even if the private medical colleges take up admission process to fill their management quota seats first, the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) must start the academic session for 2016-17 first year MBBS batch at the same time," he said.

KNRUHS Vice-Chancellor, Dr B Karunakar Reddy however, added that the varsity authorities had no objection to TPMCA going ahead with admission process to fill management quota seats in their respective private colleges.

"Our concern is only convener quota seats, but since the admission process for Eamcet-III will get prolonged, we are planning to approach the Supreme Court with a request for extra time to complete the first year MBBS admissions," he added.
