Pressure of Becoming a Doctor: 4th Year BDS student commits suicide

Namakkal: Vivekanandha Dental College for Women, Tiruchengode's 4th-year dental student, Dharini hung herself from the ceiling in her hostel room on Monday during the day. Her body was recovered when her friends came back from college, only to find her room door shut. Knocks elicited no response. Some of them peeped through the gap in the door only to see her body hanging from the ceiling. They alerted the management, which in turn alerted the police.


The police on reaching the spot broke open the door and brought down the dead body of the girl.


The deceased has been identified 20-year-old girl from Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district. She had been studying BDS in Vivekanandha Dental College for Women. According to the police the deceased had refrained from attending the college that day and stayed back in her room.


The Police also seized a suicide note from the girl's room. The note, mentioned her having been pushed into joining the BDS course by her parents reported TOI.


The police have registered a case sent the body to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam medical college for postmortem
