Permanent recognition granted to 250 MBBS seats at Kozhikode Medical College by MCI

Thiruvananthapuram: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has awarded permanent recognition to 250 seats at the Government Medical College in Kozhikode. The recognition comes in the face of the college being in possession of best facilities, that includes classrooms with a capacity of 250 students,exam halls, hostels, library, and student tutor ratio.


Even though a 50 seat increase was granted by the council, raising the number from 200 to 250 seats MCI, it did not award permanent recognition which an MCI visits and inspects a college annually.

The 50 seats (apart from the earlier 100) at Kottayam Medical college have also been granted a permanent recognition by the MCI reported Mathrubhumi.


1300 medical seats in the state are divided among 9 medical colleges in the state.
