Jodhpur: National Accreditation Board and Testing and Calibration Laboratory (NABL) has granted certification of authenticity to the pathology laboratories of SN Medical College at Jodhpur.

Speaking about the achievement, the Principal of the medical college, Dr S S Rathore informed about the hard work the college put in for two years to receive this accreditation. All the laboratories under the pathology department in the medical college including those at MDM Hospital, MG Hospital and Umeed Hospital have been granted with the certification.

The authenticity granted is in pursuance of the international standards in accordance with the ISO 15189:2012.

NABL, before providing the accreditation to these laboratories, performed an inspection to ensure that all the parameters are met in accordance to the rules and regulation. They tested the different phases of the tests and performed proper checking of the equipments. The accreditation will be valid till September 10, 2020.

"We have been granted this certification for two years, after which it will be required to be obtained afresh. After 10 months, the team of the NABL will pay an on-site surveillance visit of laboratories to verify whether all the parameters are being adhered to or not," Dr. Rathore said

HOD of the pathological lab Dr. A R Kalla said to TOI, "With this accreditation, trust and authenticity of the test from all four laboratories would enhance among the patients and the doctors and the patients would be able to take the maximum advantage of these laboratories."

The laboratories are first in the state which received the NABL Accreditation. This will enhance the authenticity and the trust on the reports delivered by laboratories. This is going to give a new blend to the laboratories as they will be in high order to maintain the standard on which they receive the accreditation.

In its efforts to attain excellence, The the college administration has already moved forward towards digitalizing the procedure of providing the test reports. The patients can avail all the information regarding the tests online, which would become more convenient.
