Parippally Medical College gets approval for 100 MBBS seats from MCI

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister, K K Shailaja on Saturday announced a 100 MBBS seat approval by the Medical Council of India to the Parippally Government Medical College. The MCI clearance was followed by the Union Ministry of Health’s clearance on Friday.


"The final clearance for the MBBS course at Parippally Medical College is an answer to those who had been campaigning relentlessly against the medical college. Rumours were spread deliberately to help certain private medical colleges. MCI had pointed out some lapses in facilities at the medical college. The government took swift action to rectify the anomalies and approached the MCI for approval," she said.


According to the Minister the state was going all out to improve the medical college and turn it into a centre that could provide medical facilities to the people at affordable rates in Kollam district reported TOI.


473 posts have been created by the state government for this medical college alone. Government funds are also being sanctioned for setting up a cath lab facility and dialysis unit at the hospital. The cath lab would require aRs 8 crore investment the minister added.
