OOPS: SMS Medical College student falls off roof top of hostel during party

Jaipur: A Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur student of the 2012 batch, who fell off the 3rd floor of the senior students’ hostel, while celebrating another friend’s admission into a post graduation course, on Tuesday, has been grievously injured.The boy is believed to have been in a drunken state.


Mayank Swami, who is believed to have accidentally slipped from the rooftop of the three-story building fell on the gallery of the second floor.The party turned chaotic after the incident, says the investigating officer, Sahib Singh.


"The students were having liquor and they had cooked non-veg on the rooftop. But, under the influence of liquor, Mayank Swami accidentally slipped from the rooftop of the three-story building, but thankfully he fell on the gallery of the second floor."


Mayank is presently undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the SMS Hospital's Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics.


Hailing from Churu, Swami presently undergoing an MBBS internship, came to the SMS medical college 5 years ago.


The police have stated him as critical. His relatives have reached Jaipur and his mother is said to be inconsolable.


The incident occurred around midnight and students from all other hostels gathered at the senior boy's hostel after the incident. Mayank Swami was immediately rushed for treatment to the affiliated college hospital.


The police after initial investigation have ruled out scuffle or ragging in the absence of evidence. They claim that Swami accidentally fell from the rooftop, as he was under the influence of liquor, reports TOI.
