Odisha: SCB Medical College gets an upgraded ICU

Cuttack: A 30 bed Intensive Care unit costing Rs 8.5 crore was recently inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pratap Jena, on the fifth floor of the Trauma Care building of SCB Medical College and Hospital.


According to information, the ICU till now had been functioning at the Surgery block from 2011. Upgradation plans had been floated in 2014, however it took 4 years for it to happen.


Of the 57 gadgets required in the ICU, 34 have been delivered. The 23 others include portable X-ray machine, dialysis machine, arrow plant, 20 high definition monitors, transport ventilators and others. These are to be provided by Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) reports the Indian Express.


The newly inaugurated ICU became functional from Thursday. The Minister said that the remaining equipment would be delivered to the unit, at the earliest. An 8 bedded High dependent Unit (HDU) will also be started soon at the surgery block, revealed hospital sources.
