Odisha Medical College undergoes Medical Council of India Inspection
The Medical Council of India would allow concurrence for 100 MBBS seats for the second year's admission to the next academic year (2019-20)- as per MCI's inspecting team's report.
Bolangir: The Bolangir- based Santha Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital recently underwent an assessment by a three-member team of Medical Council of India (MCI).
According to the local daily, Orissa Post, the three-member MCI team comprised Coordinator Prof Mohammad Rijaul Karim of the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital in Kolkata, Prof Dhiraj Saxsena of SMS Medical College in Jaipur (Rajasthan) and Prof Saroj Kothari of Gajara Raja Medical College in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh).
During its inspection round, the Medical Council of India team verified the premises of the medical institute and medical staff including professors, assistant and associate professors, doctors, nurses, laboratory, and clinical staff etc.
It has been reported that the MCI team initially visited the medical college campus at Gandharel and reviewed various facilities there. Then the team went on to examine various wards of the hospital and reviewed the infrastructure of the college.
As per the analysis report prepared by the MCI team, all the facilities at the medical institute were adequate. In view of the same, the Medical Council of India would allow concurrence for 100 MBBS seats for the second year's admission to the next academic year (2019-20).
When being asked about the said MCI inspection, Medical College Dean Dr Lalit Kumar Meher stated to the Orissa Post, "The MCI team visited the college and reviewed the teaching facilities, infrastructure, wards and other facilities and found overall systems of the medical college satisfactory."
