Odisha : Koraput medical college to come up next year

Jeypore: Work underway at the new Medical College in Koraput is scheduled to be complete on time, in order to ensure commencement of the college’s academic session Arti Ahuja, Health Secretary has stated. It is bound to upgrade district healthcare facility she has further added.

Explaining that work was being carried out at breakneck speed, Ahuja said that nothing could deter its completion on time. The college would begin its next academic session on time as the district hospital extensions would come up by September; so would the 200 beds find placement in the hospital she added. Regarding doctor placements in the KBK districts, Dr. Ahuja highlighted that Rs 1 crore each had been given to each of the CMDO’s of KBK districts, for recruitment of doctors. The corpus, she said, would look after recruitment needs.

Dr. Ahuja also visited Koraput hospital and interacted with medical staff and indoor patients, speaking to them about medical facilities available. She also reviewed healthcare in the districts at a meeting, giving directions to authorities to be alert to mother & child welfare schemes.

Collector, VJ Kumar was also present among others at this meeting.
