Nursing and Allied Medical Science Convocation held at JIPMER

Puducherry: Dr S Venkatesh, Director General of Health Service on Sunday said that the Government of India and Indian Nursing Council (INC) have finalised educator course for Nurse Practitioner Midwifery (NPM) and is revising NPM Curriculum from one year to 18 months to prepare professional midwives of international standards.


Delivering the 9th convocation of Nursing and Allied medical Sciences at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) , Dr Venkatesh said under the 'Ayushman Bharat' scheme 1.5 lakh health and wellness centers are being commissioned. Board of Governors of Medical Council of India (MCI) has finalised the new competency based MBBS Curriculum which is being rolled out from the upcoming academic session.


For regulation and standardisation of education and service of allied and health care professionals a bill has been introduced in the Rajya sabha, he said adding that it provides for setting up of an allied and health care council of India and corresponding state allied and health care councils which will play the role of standard-setter and facilitator for profession and allied heath care.


He presented degrees to 345 successful students.


Dr V M Katoch, president, Jipmer and Dr Aggarwal, Director , Jipmer among others attended the function.
