New Delhi: It was a tough day for some of the NEET SS aspirants on 18th May, as they faced difficulties in applying for NEET SS. It seemed that there became a shortage of seats at the examination centres, due to the vast number of applicants this year. As a result, the online application form could not be completed by some applicants as they were unable to select their seats

Panic then ensued among the NEET SS 2017 candidates, after media reports came out that candidates were unable to apply due to unavailability of seats at the examination centres.

“We can’t register for examination as the online application process will not be completed without opting for a centre of examination. Due to non-availability of seats in the examination centre we will be wasting an entire year. They need to arrange more facilities at their examination centres and make necessary changes in their website so as to accommodate us", a student told Deccan Chronicle

Officials at National Board of Examinations, however quickly came out with corrections informing that no student shall be denied to sit in the exam due to non-availability of seats. Dr Bipin Batra, Executive Director, National Board of Examinations told Medical Dialogues, " Yesterday, around 70 candidates were not able to register online. However, we immediately intervened added 150 additional seats to the system by the evening."

Dr Batra added that this is the first time NEET SS shall be held in the country, and NBE is making all the efforts to make sure that the entire process is smooth for the applicant.

" Aspirants have no need to panic. We are constantly reviewing the application process. We released 150 additional seats on the 18th May, 2017 and more seats will be released if required.

"All aspirants can enrol and register at the portal and create their profiles. If they encounter any issue, they will be scheduled in offline mode even if the online system does not show seat available on testing day," he added.

"Every aspirant will get an opportunity to attempt for NEET SS," he clarified.
