AHMEDABAD: In a recent court battle involving students, the MCI as well as the state government, the government has made it clear that at admission of underage students in medical courses this year would be prohibited by rules of the Medical Council of India (MCI) if they have not completed 17 years of age, by December 31, 2015.

This comes in response to a petition filed with the high court when the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) denied Ghas Ali Pirsaiyed, a student from Bhuj, a seat in a medical course on the grounds that he has yet to acquire 17 years of age.

There are 24 such underage students across the state, who have not been considered for admission in MBBS by ACPC this year. Some of them approached the high court later and the hearing on their pleas have been kept on Wednesday reports TOI.
