New VCs appointed for BU and RGUHS

Bengaluru: The wait for Bangalore and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for Vice Chancellors seems to be coming to an end.


Dr S. Sachidanand has been appointed Vice Chancellor of RGUHS. He is a director in the department of medical education, and dean and director of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI).


This week also sawVajubhai Vala Governor and Chancellor of the University issue an order appointing Prof K.R. Venugopal as Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University. He is former Principal of University, Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE).

The Vice Chancellor ‘s post at the Bangalore University fell vacant on February 7, 2017, when the tenure of B. Thimmegowda came to an end. five in-charge vice-chancellors have held the post and shouldered the responsibility since reported the Hindu.


The RGUHS post of Vice Chancellor was vacant since July 14, 2017, after K.S. Ravindranath ‘s retirement. M.K. Ramesh, Registrar (Evaluation) had been the In-charge Vice Chancellor ever since.
