NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India(SC) today dismissed a plea which asked for rescheduling of the May 7 National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 exam.

The petitioner Dr (Major) Gulshan Garg (retd), informed that the apex court had said that since the preparations were complete for the conduction of exam, rescheduling was now impossible.

The writ petition filed for the extension had several reasons for it. One important one being the short time period available to students between the board exam and the NEET.

"We are discussing the future course of action. This issue is about the future of 3 lakh students", said Dr (Major) retd. Gulshan Garg, Chairman of Sankalp Charitable Trust, who approached the Supreme Court on the NEET date extension.

He informed that the trust and other stake holders in this case will approach the concerned ministries and the CBSE for the same.

"Why can't they postpone it, if there is no harm in it", he asked.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), conducted NEET will be held for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical & Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry ,reports NDTV.
