NEET PG 2019: Haryana to give incentive marks to Inservice PG Medical candidates

Chandigarh: Recognizing the extra mile effort put in by the in-service MBBS doctors, the Haryana Government via its recent notification has apprised regarding a major bonus to these candidates who seek admission to PG medical courses.


According to a recent report by Tribune, the Haryana Government has offered incentives to PG medical aspirants who intend to pursue PG courses including MD, MS, MDS for the academic session 2019-2020.


Earlier this month, the Tamil Nadu Government had offered a similar scheme wherein incentive marks would be awarded to the in-service NEET PG candidates for their service rendered in the remote difficult rural areas for admission to Post Graduate Medical Courses by considering their working places.

Following a similar path, the Haryana Government has now informed about the latest procedure for admission to PG medical courses.




  • The in-service candidates will be entitled to an incentive at 10 per cent of the marks obtained in the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019 examination for each year of service rendered in the institutes located in remote, difficult and rural areas.

  • However, incentive marks will not exceed 30 per cent of the marks obtained in the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019 examination.

  • 50 per cent seats in government institutions will be filled through the All-India Merit Category and the remaining 50 per cent through the Haryana State Merit Category of the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019.


As per The Tribune, the notification issued by Amit Jha, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Medical Education and Research clearly stated,




"As many as 25 per cent seats will be reserved (institutional preference) for candidates who have passed MBBS/BDS course from institutes located in Haryana under state quota seats in all government/government-aided/private medical/dental institutes, including those under private universities of SGT University, Budhera (Gurugram) and PDM University, Bahadurgarh,"



Prior to this, 50 per cent seats in these PG courses were reserved for in-service government doctors. Meanwhile, private medical and dental colleges across the state will be able to fill 50 per cent seats under the management quota for admission to postgraduate courses like MD/MS/MDS for the academic session 2019-20


The notification added that candidates (other than in-service candidates), at the time of admission would be required to execute a bond that they would not leave the course before completion. The notification also warned of the penalty for backing out from the course midway.




"In case any candidate leaves the course midway, he/she shall pay Rs 7.5 lakh to the institutions concerned and the candidate concerned will be debarred from admission to any PG course for the next three years."



The Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, has been authorised to conduct combined online counselling. Following the results of NEET PG 2019, the institute has already begun the online registration process for Haryana PG medical admissions.


The Dean (Academic Affairs) of the university will be the chairman of the eight-member admission committee. The committee has been tasked to take all decisions regarding counselling-related matters. The ACS will be the appellate authority for all decisions of the admission committee whose decisions will be final, adds the daily.
