Jabalpur/Bhopal: Despite three lists having been released of prospective candidates for admission to MBBS course in private medical colleges of the state in the NEET 2017 mop up round, none was admitted. The first two lists had carried 940 names of candidates, and the third had 3746 inclusions, for admission to the 94 seats in private medical colleges.

However, 84 of the 94 UG seats, finally, saw candidates from outside the state get admissions.

The above information was given to the court through the Counsel of the aggrieved petitioners, who had challenged these admissions to private medical colleges through NEET entrance, on Thursday.

A division bench comprising of Justice Nandita Dubey and Justice R S Jha of M P High Court will continue to hear arguments on the petition filed by petitioners Prithavi Naik, Priyanshu Agrawal and Shailaja Pandey, on Friday.

The three in their petition submitted that despite having faired reasonably well in their NEET entrance and being domicile of the state, neither of them had succeeded in getting a seat in the private medical institutions.

The High Court and the apex court had earlier given a directive to the state regarding domicile preference in admission to MBBS courses and had also asked for additional counselling rounds.

Ironically, though counselling was carried out on September 9 and 10 and candidates were asked to report to the college assigned to them, with all their documents by midnight on September 10 itself, it was near impossible for candidates to report to the colleges by midnight travelling hundreds of kilometers. The last list was issued at 5 pm on September 10, 2017.

The chosen candidates for these seats alleged before the clock struck 12 that all the 94 seats had been sold to 84 candidates from outside the state; and 10 to domiciles of MP. They further revealed that none of the admitted had scored the minimum required 50% to qualify for admission in the UG course reports TOI.
