NEET Aspirant Commits Suicide in Kota by Hanging Herself From Ceiling Fan

Jaipur: A 16-year-old girl named Sakshi Maratha committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in a hostel room in Kota’s Kunhadi, Hindustan Times reported. The incident took place on Tuesday, taking the total toll of students committing suicide this year to 13. This is the second such suicide which is being reported in the last two days.



The deceased belonged to Maharashtra’s Buldhana region. She came to Kota in April and was enrolled in Allen Career Coaching Institute, the newspaper reported.

The hostel management told the police that the hostel warden found the girl hanging in the room after she went to check on her. Apparently, the girl did not come out for \ meals.


No suicide note has been discovered from the room. However, the body would be taken for post-mortem after her parent’s arrival.


In an earlier incident last month, a 17-year-old girl allegedly attempted to commit suicide in Tamil Nadu after she failed in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, in yet another case of students trying to take their lives reportedly upset over their poor performance in the exam.


The girl, anguished over her poor performance in the medical entrance test, consumed poison. She was rushed to a local hospital and then admitted to a hospital in Puducherry. “Ashtalakshmi was dejected as her score in both her plus two examinations and the NEET was poor. She consumed poison and following medical treatment, she is now stable.
