New Delhi: While thousands of medical PG aspirants gave their NEET PG 2019, many candidates at Jammu and Kashmir were devoid of this opportunity as the extreme weather conditions including snowfall prevented them from reaching the exam centres on the designated time.

Due to limited capacity in exam centers allocated to Kashmir, hundreds of aspirants for NEET PG, had been allotted centers in Jammu and other cities. However, since Friday the area has been seeing heavy snowfall hitting the accessibility both through road and air.

However, through a recent notice, National Board of Examinations, the exam conducting body for NEET PG 2019 has announced that it will conduct a separate exam for these affected candidates.

The notice states
It has been brought to notice that due to inclement weather conditions in Jammu & Kashmir, some candidates from the Srinagar Valley are not able to move to their designated exam centres in Jammu and other cities. NBE is committed to give an opportunity to such affected candidates to appear in NEET-PG 2019.

Being a situation, NBE shall be conducting a separate examination for these affected candidates. The date, time and venue shall be informed in due course.

No other candidates from any other state or region or for any reason/condition shall be eligible to appear in the exam planned for these affected candidates from Jammu & Kashmir as explained above.

The entrance examination, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduation courses (NEET PG) is the gateway to PG medical courses in the country such as Master of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD) as well as PG Diploma courses.

The examination was conducted on Sunday 6th January 2019. It was a single day exam conducted in a single session held across 148 exam centres in the country.
