Nagpur: A few teachers applying for positions at All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS ), have been given NOCs by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Maharashtra. Interviews for 52 posts, including AIIMS, Director, will be held on Saturday.

50 teachers employed by Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital, Government Medical College Hospital and GMCs in Nagpur region have applied for positions at AIIMS. The fact remains that a fistful was granted NOCs by the DMER. This has lead to growing grouses among those left out.

The reason behind the DMER keeping a restraining hand on the granting of NOCs is that it fears faculty shortages arising due to mass vacancies in GMCH and other hospitals. This it forecasted may lead to conflict with the apex education regulator.

The NOC granted were a result of realization on the part of the Directorate that posts for biochemistry, community medicine, pathology, pharmacology physiology, anatomy, and forensic science(8 professors, 4 associate professors, 16 lecturers, 12 senior residents and 8 tutors) — will to be filled in the first year reported TOI.
