Bhopal: The Supreme Court has summoned the Director, Medical Education, Dr. GS patel to be personally present in court with documents pertaining to counselling for admissions to medical colleges. The court will be hearing the matter on November 30. This is in response to a petition filed by Vyapam whistle blower Paras saklecha alleging irregularities in admissions to private medical college.

The background of the case comes in the light of the fact that on October 7, the DMER filled four hundred and sixty eight seats in different medical colleges of the state, through offline counseling. It was later that the authorities discovered that 37 excess admissions had been done, with private college seats already filled to capacity and a seat had also been left vacant in a government college.
