MP: Students expelled out of colleges after seizing admission moves to high court

Bhopal: More than 22 medical students who were expelled out of colleges have filed cases with the Indore bench of the High Court calling for readmission. The difficult situation has arisen after the colleges gave admissions to 37 students in excess of their seats.

Vyapam whistle blower Paras Sakhlecha holds the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, responsible for the fiasco that has occurred, in the case of the 37 excess admissions. Speaking to the Free Press, Sakhlecha called it carelessness on the part of the DMER, that has resulted in 37 students being part of excess admissions, reports Freepress Journal.

According to him, the DME conducted offline admissions on October 7, which led to the chaos among students who were expelled out of their colleges as well as the students admitted to their seats. The private medical colleges conducted admissions in accordance to their wishes, overlooking the NEET criteria and the Supreme Court directives, on admissions. The apex body had issued orders that colleges follow the NEET scores for granting admissions, and give domicile preference to students of the state.

Citing the example of RD Gardi College, the Vyapam whistle blower said, students with a 405 score were not given admission , whereas, children with 205 marks were admitted.

Speaking of offline irregularities, he mentioned students not having NRI certificates being given admission, as against those who had them, all in violation of the Supreme Court orders.

He revealed having filed a case in the Supreme Court, demanding a redo of the merit list, in accordance with the NEET result. His petition goes up for hearing on 25^th October.
