Madhya Pradesh: State department of Medical Education postpones PG seats counseling
Madhya Pradesh: The State Department of Medical Education has postponed the counseling for PG seats by a week. The counselling was scheduled to start on April 16.
The order was delivered by the State High Court division bench in Jabalpur of April 12, directing the medical education department for implementing 50 per cent quota for ‘in-service candidates’.”
All the state medical colleges have been notified on the orders of postponement of counseling till April 20 (for PG seats only).
In the interim, the department has also sought written advise from the MCI on the next step pf action post the orders issued by the High Court. Director of Medical Education, Dr GS Patel has further confirmed the news that the department is seeking directions from MCI regarding the new pattern of seat distribution.
As reported by FPJ, acting Dean of MGM Medical College, Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “Counselling has been postponed on the orders of the department till April 20. It has been postponed on the grounds of the orders given by the High Court on April 12.”
He said that they have completed the formalities to organise the counselling according to the chart sent by the department earlier but now will wait for new orders and the seat distribution chart for the process.
The whole idea of granting 50 per cent quota for those eligible candidates is to reward their efforts of having served in the government hospitals (especially in rural areas for a minimum period of three years). These candidates are those who appear in the pre-PG examinations as medical officers also.
The State Health Department is also reported to have released the merit list of ‘in-service candidates’ along with their sponsor certificates (of 74 candidates).
