MP: Notice issued to Bundelkhand Medical College Dean

Bhopal: The Divisional Commissioner, Sagar has come down heavily on the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Sagar by issuing suspension orders against him, for deteriorating health services in the district. He has also issued notices to 21 doctors, including the Dean Bundelkhand Medical College and the superintendent of the associated hospital.


Commissioner Incharge Vikas Narwal told the Free Press that the Commissioner, Dr Manohar Agnani, had issued suspension orders against the CM&HO, Dr DK Koshal, as he held him responsible for the deteriorating health services in the district.


The district administration and the health department have been raiding various private hospitals and nursing homes for the past two months, to identify government doctors who are taking non-practicing allowance (NPA) despite offering their services in private hospitals.


The notices served to doctors by the Commissioner were for their work not being upto the mark and for violation of the NPA norms. The Bundelkhand Medical College, Dean, JN Soni was served a notice for not being able to prevent doctors from working in private hospitals. The Commissioner has also served a notice on the superintendent of BMC, Dr. RS Verma for running a nursing home in his son's name and working in it as well.


Dr Indraj Singh Thakur, Civil Surgeon, District Hospital, also received a notice for failing to provide better facilities in the hospital and for serving at a private hospital.


The Commissioner has served a punishment of two salary increments to be stopped and their replies submitted within a period of 15 days.
