MP: Medical Colleges await smart classes

MP: After having allocated a budget of Rs 140 lakh to the medical education department to start smart classes in the state medical colleges, the implementation is still falling short of the program.

It has been reported that most of the medical colleges are awaiting the smart classes, however, at present the medical education department has not made a single move in terms of spending any amount for the purpose.

FPJ reported that Rs 140 lakh was allocated to the medical education department in the fiscal year 2015-16 for the “Information and Technologies in Education Project (smart classes in popular parlance) in the medical colleges. But the department did not spend a single paise.

The director of medical education Dr GS Patel informed Free Press that in medical college of Indore and Jabalpur, classes have been started. In rest of the colleges, smart classes will begin soon.

On a similar footing, there was also a plan to upgrade post graduate courses in the medical colleges, for which the department was allocated a huge sum of Rs 14 cr. So far, only 10 cr have been utilized in the last 4 years.

Also, a complete upgradation as per the funds allocated to MTH hospital of Indore is awaited. Dr Patel said that there were some objections regarding the upgradation and extension of the hospital, which have been resolved and work on the project is going to start shortly, as quoted by FPJ.
