MP: Index Medical College not allowed to raise PG fee

Indore: Post graduate medical aspirants who sought admission at the Index Medical College in May, have put up a series of complaints, including increased fee, against the college to the MP Private University Regulatory Commission. The complaints to the MPPURC, have been jointly submitted to the Admission and Fees Regulatory Committee and Directorate of Medical Education.

The other significant complaint registered by the post graduate students is that of being pressurized by the university to get enrolled in the Malwanchal University. The students allege that at the time of admission they were told that the college was affiliated to Jabalpur Medical University. The Malwanchal university notification was issued on June 16, though there admission process had been completed in May, they added.

The MPPURC having taken cognizance of there grievances called a meeting. The meeting was attended by Dr Swaraj Puri, Dr Chitralekha Chouhan, AFRC members, Joint Director, Medical Education, Dr Shashi Gandhi, Members of Index Medical College and the aggrieved students .

During the meeting the students alleged that at the time of admission in May, the fee was Rs 8,55,000, which was later increased by the college to Rs 9,90,000 per annum. They also raised the issue of the hostel fee, alleging that the college is charging Rs 3,75,000 toRs. 4,50,000.

The MP Private University Regulatory Commission in reply to their grievances made clear that in the matter of increased fee, the Index authorities would not be allowed any further raise;the amount decided at the time of admission would be the sum charged. In the case of hostel fee being more than what was asked for at the time of admission, the AFRC said that will take notice of the matter.

With regards to the issue of the students being affiliated to Malwanchal University, instead of the mentioned Jabalpur Medical University at the time of admission, the commission has asked the college to submit its validations in fifteen days time.
