MP: Four private medical colleges found with excess admissions
Bhopal: The Directorate of Medical Education(DME), is looking into 33 cases of students having been given admission by private colleges, despite there being no seats available. According to sources, it was on October 7 after 5 pm, when the admission process turned offline that these irregularities took place. The irregularities included manipulations in SC/ST quota seats, admissions of the non state domicile students and NRI seats .
Following are the colleges that have been highlighted for having accepted excess number of admissions
- Index Medical College- three
- Amtalas Medical College -Twenty two
- People’s Medical College -seven
- RD Gardi Medical College- one
Director, DME, Dr. GS Patel confirmed the excess admission, adding that the authorities are looking into the matter
Whether the excess admissions is a result of mismanagement or irregularities, it is yet to be determined. Fress Press Journal reports that this bunch of excess admissions was discovered on the 10th day of counselling. The admission process ended on 7th October, as per the directions of the Supreme Court. The status report on admissions was supposed to have been submitted on the 17th October;but in the absence of the submission, the Supreme Court extended the date to October 25th, 2016.
All the concerned four institutions pointed at for admission irregularities have been summoned to the DME office for submission of their papers. The decision taken by the Directorate will be known on Wednesday.
