MP: Bed occupancy at NSCBMC halved due to festive season
Jabalpur: Bed Occupancy has been reduced to half( a mere 50% ) at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital.The reason being given is the government holidays of Diwali and Bhaiya Duj.
It is believed that government occupancy decreases in the wake of festivities in and around the festive season.. The other hospitals that have witnessed this reduction are Government Victoria Hospital and Lady Elgin Hospital. Both cater to a majority of the population of Mahakaushal area.
Speaking of the Government Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital occupancy, it has been observed that the patient occupancy during the festival season in all the wards, becomes dismally low.
Speaking of the Government Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital, occupancy of patients suffering from Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis, Upper Respiratory Tract diseases in its Department of Medicine and Chest Department has fallen; while the number is on the decline also in other departments like the Department of Ophthalmology. Only 10 patients have been admitted in the Department of Ophthalmology against the usual occupancy of more than 30 patients in the 40-bedded ward. The decline is also visible in the ENT and Dermatology department, where only 10 or 12 patient admissions have been witnessed since the last two days.
Bed occupancy in the Gynecology, Surgery and Orthopedics Ward has been recorded at 45 or 50 percent. Patients in this department need both pre and post operative care, and are admitted for long periods of time.
The number of patients have reduced to about 40 percent. The average patient admission the Medical College Hospital, reflected a mere 150 patients in OPD department, last Monday; while it was around 300 patient a day before the start of February. An average of 800 patients are witnessed otherwise, on a daily basis.
According to Superintendent, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital, Dr Rajesh Tiwari a large number of patient who are not seriously ill, have taken discharge from the hospital for the festive month.
