MoU signed by Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College with Austrian varsity

Puducherry: A memorandum of understanding(MoU), has been signed on education research, and patient care in nursing sciences between Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College, a constituent unit of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth and IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Austria.


M.K. Rajagopalan, Vidyapeeth Chancellor said the MoU had been signed as the institution was keen on striking partnerships with international institutions for development in sharing of knowledge in academics, research, and patient care.


Vice-chancellor K.R. Sethuraman, Gerhard Tucek, KREMS, Austria, Europe; Sumathy Sundar, director, Centre for Music Therapy, Education, and Research; Nirmal Coumare, medical Superintendent, MGMCRI; and K. Renuka, Dean, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, participated.


Simultaneously a 2nd international conference was hosted by the college in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The topic for the conference was “Voice of midwives — revitalizing reproductive health.”


The two-day conference aims at to provide a better and overall insight on high standards of quality nursing services and research, in order to tackle existing and new challenges in reproductive health by bringing international experts on the same platform.

Nandhini K. Kumar, former Deputy Director-General, Senior Grade (ICMR), New Delhi, in her keynote address highlighted on National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical and Health Research on Human Participants (2017).


The set of guidelines included salient principles of non-exploitation, risk minimization, professional competence, social responsibility, privacy and confidentiality, environmental protection and transparency and accountability, reports Hindu.
