MKCG paramedic student, severely burnt after husband throws acid at her

Berhampur: Minati Pradhan (20), a final year paramedics diploma student of Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Behrampur suffered severe burns on her face, chest and left eye when her husband allegedly threw acid on her face . The incident took place on the college campus.


According to police information, "Minati was on her way to attend class when husband Niranjan Pradhan, who had kept a watch on her, threw acid and fled the spot. As she screamed in pain onlookers rushed to help and took her to the emergency ward." Her husband Niranjan has been missing since.


Minati, a Barida village native, who married Niranjan on May 7, had ever since been physically and mentally tortured, alleges the victim's father, Bipin Pradhan.


Two months ago, a complaint was lodged against Niranjan regarding it and investigation is on in the case. Minati who had left her in-laws house following the torture was putting up in a private hostel in the city.


The twenty-year-old student had after the incident been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack as her condition deteriorated. A case has been registered with the police and a probe initiated, reports TNIE.
