Berhampur: Saturday night saw tension engulf MKCG Medical College and Hospital environs as 2nd-year students staged a sit-in protest outside the college office against their 3rd-year counterparts for alleged brutal ragging.

The sit-in was the result of a group of final year students forcefully entering the newly constructed hostel of their 2nd-year junior mates and thrashing the lot brutally. The juniors are believed to have sustained injuries due to the attack.

“Our hair was snipped by the seniors who made us stand for long hours as part of ragging on an intervening night,” an agitating student revealed while speaking to media at the venue of the protest.

The students complained of physical torture has become part of everyday routine for the seniors and added that despite repeated complaints to the Principal action was yet to be taken.

The principal, when contacted assured that action would be taken after the attacked students have been met with reports Kalinga TV.
