Indore: Alleging harassment by a Professor attached with the Anaesthesia Department at MGM Medical College, the female PG medicos studying at the institute have filed a complaint with current Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

According to a recent report by TOI, the PG medical students, in their complaint, have alleged that Anaesthesia Department Head "mentally tortured them and threatened of failing them in the examinations". In addition, the female medicos alleged that the professor tried to "torture them during classes" and also "summoned them" to his office.

After the grievance reached the State Governor Anandiben Patel, the MP Medical University constituted a four-member committee to probe the veracity of allegations against the doctor.

Confirming the information, Acting Dean at MGM Medical College, Dr Kishore Arora stated to TOI, "We have received an order regarding the enquiry against the Professor. The committee will record statements on Jan 15."

However, in his defence, the Anaesthesia Professor has denied the allegations stating that it's nothing but a conspiracy against him. According to a statement made by the accused doctor to the daily, he is being targeted by "people in power for exposing irregularities at the medical college".

He claimed that he is being "trapped" because he was trying to expose some higher officials of the college.

"The allegations of threatening to fail students are false as I am not an examiner and have no rights to pass or fail any student," Dr Bhatia told TOI.

Medical Dialogues recently reported about a similar instance at Rajasthan-based Bharatpur Medical College where a first-year female MBBS student complained of sexual harassment by a faculty in the Biochemistry Department. Justifying his side, the professor stated that the student was making false allegations to put pressure on him.
