Indore: The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Dean, Dr Sharad Thora on facing flak for having transferred 9 teachers to Khandwa Medical College, has decided to revoke the order of deputation.

The transferred 9 have raised voices of protest as their consent was not taken before sending them on deputation to Khandwa medical College. They had been sent by the Dean to ensure that the headcount was as per MCI norms and that recognition to the institution was granted.

With the Council inspection over, Dean, Thora is planning to revoke the deputation order in consultation with his seniors. “As the inspection has been completed, we will call back the faculty members to Indore,” Dr Thora told FPJ.

Meanwhile, the nine faculties on deputation have returned to Indore having taken leave and are awaiting the dean’s orders of revocation. They fear that they might be transferred to Khandwa Medical College permanently.

However, Dr Thora said they could only be sent on a deputation for six years. He also denied allegations that the 9 faculties sent to Khandwa were not part of the MCI headcount. They were considered as part of Khandwa Medical College faculty, he added to the FPJ.

Those who have been sent to Khandwa on deputation include Dr Manoj Gupta, Dr Sanjay Dubey, Dr Deepak Bansal, Dr Basant Kumar Nigwal, Dr Monica Verma,Dr Laxman Banodha, Dr Apoorva Pauranik, Dr Ramsharan Raikwar, and Dr Amarjeet Singh Chhabra,

According to Dr. Thora, it was up to the center and state government to decide whether the teachers sent on deputation could be considered a part of college faculty.
