Medical students attack LLRMM official

Meerut: Medical services were disrupted in Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College (LLRMM) here after a clash between groups of junior doctors and administrative staff, following which police was deployed on the campus.


A group of junior doctors allegedly had a scuffle with the staff members of the college last night after one of the interns had a fight with the son of an official over roaming around in the stadium.

The president of the Medical Worker's Association, Vipin Tyagi has accused the students of throwing stones at the houses of the staffers, beating up women and damaging vehicles.

"The houses of two officials- Manoj Pundir and Ravinder Rana were attacked by the students. A complaint has been filed against the students at the local police station," Tyagi told PTI.

The students have also alleged that two of their fellow students have been badly injured in the scuffle.

"A meeting is under way to resolve the issue, soon a decision will be taken by the administration in the matter," college CMO, Ajit Chaudhary said.

Police have been deployed on the campus to maintain law and order.

"To keep situation under control a large number of police personnel have been deployed in the campus. We are trying to restore peace by talking to both sides," College Principal, Dr. K K Gupta said.
