Medical Student Rape Case: Culprit gets 7 years imprisonment
Hisar: Rohit Rod, a native of Kurukshetra has been sentenced by the court of the Additional District Judge, Pankaj of Hissar to 7 years imprisonment on charges of having raped a medical student in June 2014. The convict has also been imposed a fine of Rs.13,500.
In her first information report, the victim stated that she had known Rohit since the time when she was attending coaching classes for admission to a medical college. She also revealed that the convict had continued visiting her after she got admission to a medical college in Hissar.
It was on one such visits in 2014 that Rahul offered her some soft drink laced with an intoxicant and abducted her.
Her complaint further speaks of having been taken to a hotel in Hissar and raped and filmed by him. She also claimed to have been threatened by him with dire consequences, by making the video go viral if she spoke of the incident to anybody.
However, the victim did disclose the matter to her father on June 26, 2014, and a complaint was finally lodged on July 24, 2014, at the Agroha police station.
The man has been convicted under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement); 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty); 376-A (rape); 377 (unnatural offenses); 506 (criminal intimidation) and under Sections of the Information Technology Act, reports HT.
