Study Pressure: Medical student hangs to death from a ceiling fan

Mangaluru: A Final Year Medical Student of a private medical college, Ambika, (23) of Saligrama, Kundapur took her life last week by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room in Kuntikana.


The suicide note recovered from her room states that she was going through a depression and was finding it difficult to concentrate on her studies.


According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday between 10 am and 1 pm and Ms Aithal a topper was appearing for her final examination. She is believed to have already appeared for 4 of the 4 papers to be answered.


The police said that Ambika while speaking to her roommate had spoken about her poor performance a day before the incident.


The roommate who had gone to write an exam, on Tuesday morning, found the room locked on her return. After several attempts to have Ambika open the door from inside failed, the door was forced open by her and she found Ambika hanging from the ceiling reports TOI.
