Bettiah: A Government Medical College and Hostel, Bettiah, student, Piyush Bharadwaj (25) was robbed of Rs. 6000 on Wednesday morning.

Bharadwaj was attacked by the criminals near the Janata Cinema, while he was on his way to the hostel from the bus stand.

"Prima facie the motive looks to be loot," said Nityanand Chauhan, officer-in-charge of Town police station.

"No sooner did I reach Janata cinema around 5 am that two motorcycle-borne criminals stopped the rickshaw in which I was travelling and started searching my pockets. I put up some resistance. But on sensing that one of them was trying to whip out a weapon, I escaped taking advantage of the thick fog and took shelter in a nearby house," he told The Telegraph. According to him, he was chased by the attackers for some distance.
