Medical College student alleges sexual abuse by assistant professor

Dharamsala: A post graduate student at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College (Tanda) has accused an assistant professor allegedly for sexual abuse. The College’s sexual Harassment Committee has been informed and a complaint has been filed with it.


Though no police complaint has been lodged, senior officials have been informed by the authorities. The victim alleged that she was called to the assistant professor’s room and when she entered his room she found him sitting in an objectionable posture.


The complaint though formally registered on April 20 was later processed for further inquiries say sources.


The Princpal, Dr Ramesh Bharati however maintained that the complaint has been referred to the sexual harassment committee. He however conceded to the fact that the student on appearing in from of the committee had demanded that an inquiry be conducted by an an IAS officer, instead of a college committee.


The matter has been referred to higher authorities and further directions awaited revealed sources.They also claimed that the inquiry committee’s report states that the issue was triggered after the student was given bad remarks for one of her performances .The Committee’s report has also been forwarded to the higher authorities reports TOI.
