MD seats in govt and private medical colleges in Rajasthan denied MCI approval

Jaipur: The Medical Council of India( MCI), has declined to start or increase MD seats in 7 medical colleges of Rajasthan, leading to it feeling pushed behind in its efforts to up itself in the field of medical education. The colleges include 7 state and 3 private institutions. The disapproval comes in the face of infrastructural, resource and faculty deficiencies.


Earlier the council had denied the state approval to start seven new medical colleges.


The Council is believed to have during its recent inspections found shortcomings in these colleges seeking new as well as increased MD seats. The MCI also recommended disapproval of many courses in pediatrics, ENT, general surgery and other departments in these medical colleges, reports Pink City Post.


In an earlier story done by medical dialogues the team reported that the state of Rajasthan had once again received a set back at the hands of the Medical Council of India (MCI), which had for the 2
nd
consecutive year refused permission for the starting of the proposed 7 new government medical colleges in the state.

The Council’s decision had also put the state government in an uncomfortable corner, as it had announced the medical colleges getting into the operational mode from the coming academic year, but would now not even get off the ground.

The Colleges and courses in which seats were asked for include:




  • Government Medical College, Kota: Pediatric, General Medicine, Pathology, Radiotherapy, MS OBG, Forensic Medicine.

  • Jhalawar Medical College: MS Ophthalmology, MS General Surgery,

  • RUHS College, Jaipur: Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Community Medicine,

  • Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner: Anatomy, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry,
