MCI to reinspect two medical colleges in Gujrat
Ahmedabad: The Medical Council of India (MCI), has a series of re inspections coming up in various state medical colleges, as a majority of them have not been able to meet the apex education regulator's stipulated guidelines.
The two most recent ones will be those to be held in GMERS run medical colleges at Junagadh and Himmatnagar. The MCI inspected both recently, however, the body will be looking them up again, as they have failed to comply to its norms.
If at the forthcoming day of inspection (scheduled for April 30), they fail to meet up with MCI standards all over again, they will be disallowed admissions for the upcoming academic year.
A new medical institution opened at Vadnagar with a student intake of 150, has also failed to live up to MCI norms, during the inspection conducted in January. Therefore, permission for admissions has been with held. The college is now due for re inspection anytime soon.
Sumandeep Charitable Trust has met with a similar fate as well. It is already running a medical college in Waghodia.
The trust has failed to get approval for admissions for a 150 students to its medical college in Chandkheda, due to guideline non compliance. The Medical Colleges at Gandhinager and Valsad were also inspected recently.
The pending Patan medical college inspection is likely to be completed soon. The college is seeking further admission approval. It has been running for four years now reports TOI.
