MCI notifies infrastructural, faculty requirement for PG courses

New Delhi: The Medical Council of India(MCI), has in a recently released notice elucidated the infrastructural and faculty requirements for Post Graduate courses. The minimum bed requirement for a unit to start PG course with one seat is 30 beds, while the minimum faculty requirement has been set up with 1 each of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, senior resident and two junior residents. For further increase in PG seats the unit requirement goes up


Following is the distribution of both, as per seat allotments done:




  • 1 PG SEAT - Beds-30; Professor-1; Associate Professor-1; Assistant Professor-1; Senior Resident 1;Junior Resident-2;

  • 2 PG SEATS - Beds-60, Professor-1; Associate Professor 2; Assistant Professor-3; Senior Resident-2;Junior Resident-4;

  • 3 PG SEATS - Beds- 90; Professor-1;Associate Professor-3; Assistant Professor-5; Senior Resident-3;Junior Resident-6;

  • 4 PG SEATS - Beds-120; Professor-1; Associate Professor-4;Assistant Professor-7; Senior Resident-4; Junior Resident-8;

  • 5 PG SEATS -Beds-150;Professor-1; Associate Professor-5; Assistant Professor-9; Senior Resident-5; Junior Resident-10;

  • 6 PG SEATS - Beds-180; Professor-1; Associate Professor-6; Assistant Professor-11; Senior Resident-6;Junior Resident-12;

  • 7 PG SEATS - Beds- 210;Professor-1; Associate Professor-7; Assistant Professor-13; Senior Resident-7; Junior Resident-14;

  • 8 PG SEATS - Beds_240 ; Professor-1 ; Associate Professor-8; Assistant Professor-15; Senior Resident-8; Junior Resident-16.
