Nagpur: The Medical Council of India has made it mandatory for teachers in medical colleges to be present in colleges between 9.30 and 10 am. Teachers are meant to set examples and it is often observed that they are emulated for their good habits and acts.

Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dean, Dr A Niswade, said this was being done to instill discipline among teachers who usually come late to college. “The new system will ensure that they use biometric system and swipe their cards to mark their attendance on time," he added. Those who don’t will be marked absent for the day.
However, there is no limit set on the number of hours they should be present in college.
