MCI Inspection: Doon Medical College gear up for faculty recruitment

The forthcoming Medical Council of India (MCI) inspection has got the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) authorities going with the recruitment of faculty positions.


14 Junior Residents (JR) and One Senior Resident (SR) were appointed at the medical college hospital recently. A senior resident has also been appointed in the department of medicine, while three Junior Residents have been taken in for gynaecology, Biochemistry and Surgery. One SR each has also been appointed in, pathology, anatomy, orthopaedics, paediatrics, community medicine have been appointed.


Senior Residents in the college draw a monthly salary of Rs66000, while a Junior Resident's stipend is Rs 55000 per month.


Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta, Principal, GDMC, said that 14 recruitments for posts of associate professor and assistant professors would be done by January end.


The recruitment advertisement for these positions is to be released soon. These include seven posts of Professors and another seven for seven Associate Professor positions.


These recruitments along with the recent appointments of four Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) in the emergency wing of the hospital will help the hospital administration to grapple with the growing shortage of doctors. These recruitments will also muster MCI approvals for student strength and course introductions in the college reports the Pioneer.
