MCI Derecognition: 22 MD students batch at Dhule Medical College move high court

Mumbai: Dhule's ACPM Medical college’s Postgraduate students have moved the High Court against the institution stating that their future stands jeopardized with their admission to the said medical college not being recognized by the Medical Council of India(MCI). The citation to this effect was made by the medical college administration to 22 students who had enrolled in the MD course in the year 2016

The MD course's recognition is believed to have lapsed in 2016 and has not been renewed since. The students have demanded that they are shifted to other medical colleges offering MD courses and a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for each student. The entire batch has filed a writ petition with the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court

According to a college student who spoke to Indian express, “The college was recognized from 2010 to 2015. After that, the college failed to meet the infrastructural requirements and other compliances of the MCI. The recognition of further batches is still pending.”

The student alleged that shockingly the batch that joined in 2017 was not informed of the medical college's current recognition status.“The college appeared on the website of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research at the time of admission. Students were taken for a ride,” the student told Indian Express.

The student petition also mentions a council inspection report held in September last year which mentions several irregularities in the college.
