MGM Medical College gets 10 more MBBS Seats for 2019-20 academic year
Indore: The efforts of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM Medical college )Indore to increase its MBBS seats as finally shown some results as the Medical Council of India (Board of Governors) gave its nod to the medical college to add 10 more MBBS seats. With this the annual intake of the medical college has gone upto 150.
Medical dialogues had reported about the continuous efforts of the medical college to increase its MBBS seats
In the year 2014, the college had applied to MCI for increasing their MBBS seats to 150 from 140. In this regard, the MCI had conducted an inspection in the college four times. Unfortunately, each time the council found some deficiencies in the standards and rejected the application.
One of the main reasons for MCI rejection was a small library, and the MCI while rejecting the application advised the college to construct a bigger library.

Later, confident with its infrastructure, the Medical College administration had applied for increasing its MBBS seats from 140 to 250 for the academic year 2019-20. However, MCI had directed that first, it will conduct an inspection for 150 seats.
Finally,MGM medical college Indore has received the approval of Medical Council of India (Board of Governors) for adding 10 more MBBS seats to the existing 140 after conducting an inspection for the sixth time.
The MGM Medical College administration will apply for getting an increment of 100 more MBBS seats in July 2019 for the session 2020-21.
The college administration was quite confident of getting 100 additional seats by the next session (2019-20) but the Medical Council of India surprised the college administration by conducting an inspection for 10 additional seats (140 to 150).

The Dean of MGM Medical College Dr Jyoti Bindal told the Free Press Journal, "We have finally got recognition for 140 to 150 seats from the MCI. We're sure of getting the approval as we have already fulfilled the requirements of infrastructure and head count."
Since the time for applying for the new seats for 2019-20 is already over, due to which they will re-apply for the session 2020-21 to gain MCI recognition for 100 more MBBS seats, she confirmed.
