MBBS seats will increase in 4 Medical Colleges in UP: Medical Education Minister Tandon

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister of Technical and Medical Education Ashutosh Tandon 'Gopal' has recently claimed that six medical colleges in the state will get advanced burn unit and MBBS seats will be increased in four medical colleges.


Mr. Tandon has instructed concerned officers to complete the construction of ICU and advanced burn unit in Meerut, Agra, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Kanpur government hospital till the end of this fiscal year. These burn units will be constructed under the 'Rani Lakshmi Bai scheme' supported by the Central government.


UP minister said that 310 MBBS seats were increased in old medical colleges this year. Proposal for upgrading lecture theatre, hostels in Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Meerut government hospital was sent to Center government.


Mr. Tandon said that several medical equipments in the radiotherapy department were not working in Meerut and Jhansi medical colleges which caused trouble for patients. He said that Rs 1.5 were sectioned for both hospitals for renovations of these units and sections.
