Malappuram: Government Medical College Manjeri has out-shown all others despite being the last to come up in the state, with 85 of its 87 students who appeared for their final year MBBS exams having passed. It has emerged top in the state after the Kerala University of Health Sciences declared their result. Established in 2013, the college is still in its nascent stages of development and has indeed much to be proud of.

Despite minimal infrastructural requirements having been met with as per the MCI regulations, the college ‘s academic achievement speaks volumes about the college in terms of achievements. The same batch had topped in the state in the first year results in 2014. Last year, MCI approval for admissions had also been denied, but compliance was met with and approval got once again.

A students’ protest by the college was also witnessed last year in the face of infrastructural and faculty shortcomings. However, it was resolved with the government intervention. The laurels have come with the college recently been sanctioned Rs 105 crore for development.

The foundation stone for a government student’s hostel is also to be laid within the next three months reveal authorities reports Deccan Chronicle.
