MBBS Doctor arrested in NEET impersonation Racket

Vasco: The government’s attempt to improve the overall quality of medical education through implementing NEET, seems to be facing threats from impersonators who have reached the examination halls of this prestigious medical exam. The latest being an incident where the Verna Police, on Thursday, arrested a 31 year old NEET impersonation racket kingpin, an MBBS doctor by profession. The arrest was made in connection with an impersonation case, registered on May 7.


According to Police Inspector, Uday Parab, Dr Nabin Kumar, a native of Calcutta was the main accused person, who had issued hall ticket to four accused persons who were arrested for impersonating during National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) held at two different schools in Goa including at Litera Primary Zee School, behind BITS Pilani Campus, Sancoale.


“On May 7th, following complaints from the Principal, Litera Primary Zee School, we had arrested two youth, both students from Bihar for impersonation during National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) held at Sancoale school."


“Later, while investigating the case we received information that the person who is part of a big racket and lives in Pune had provided hall ticket to these impersonators. Thus we laid trap to catch and the accused doctor was nabbed from Pune and was brought to Verna police station, on Thursday. During interrogation, Kumar said that he had provided hall ticket on instructions of someone else. Now our efforts are on to trace the main accused person who is the mastermind behind the racket,” Parab told Goa.com.


The police suspect Sharma to be the man responsible for arranging for impersonators to answer the exam and charge money from candidates who wanted to clear the exam. Each candidate was asked to pay Rs 4 lakh, revealed the police sources to TOI.
