MBBS Counselling in Tamil Nadu: State Board Students take a lead

Chennai: The state Board students marched ahead of the CBSE and other category entrants with 62 percent seats going the former's way and 32% and 4% to the following the during the first phase of counseling for MBBS and BDS courses this last week. This was revealed by the Directorate of Medical Education's, Selection Committee recently.

The counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions for the special category quota began on July . The counselling for general category began on Monday. Tuesday saw a total of 1,421 seats in MBBS and BDS allocated.

"Among 1,421 seats, the State Board students got 892 seats, CBSE students 460 and other board students 69 seats," Dr G Selvarajan, Selection Committee, Secretary, told Express.

Percentage comparison revealed, the State Board students to have got 62.77 percent, the CBSE 32.37 percent and other board students with a 4.9% win reported TNIE.

12 students from government and government-aided schools had figured in the 1 to 3,000 rank list according to the selection committee data. Only 16 students featured in the 3,001 to 5,000 rank. However the 16 stood a dimmer chances to MBBS seats.
