MBBS Coaching Centre SCAM: 54 Students Duped of Rs 50 lakh
Vijayawada: 54 medical aspirants have been duped of over Rs 50 lakh in Vijayawada after the owner of the MBBS coaching centre; where they were enrolled in, allegedly vanished out of the blue shutting the coaching centre down.
TOI reports about the alleged scam which revealed following the police complaint filed by the parents of the NEET 2019 aspirants.
According to Penamaluru Circle Inspector K Damodar, there were 43 girls and 13 boys enrolled in National Medical Academy ran by its owner and lecturer, identified as one, Ramana Reddy (50). After realizing that they have been scammed, the parents of the MBBS aspirants filed a police complaint against the owner.
Explaining the alleged fraud case, the Inspector informed that the MBBS coaching centre's owner was in the middle of a financial crisis. Disrupted by the same, he closed his centre's premises down and vanished in the air.
"He collected Rs 1.5 lakh per head while there are other students whom he took Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh cash for the nine-month course," Inspector Damodar told The Times Of India. "The accused owner ran the MBBS coaching centre for few months and then went under losses as he could not pay his loans or salaries to his staff members," other cops added.
Thinking his way out from the situation, the owner locked the doors of his classrooms of the NEET training centre and absconded from the city last week.
When the parents of the MBBS aspirants came to know that the centre is closed, they realized that they have been cheated. Immediately, they then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
"All the four phones belonging to Reddy were switched off and we are searching for his whereabouts in his hometown, Nellore," the investigating police officers informed.
Cops registered a case under section 420 of IPC (cheating) against Ramana Reddy and began an investigation, confirms TOI.
