MBBS admission at Tamil Nadu: State Rank List not released by NTA, hurdle for students
Chennai: All students willing to take admission in Tamil Nadu medical colleges may face hindrance for the second consecutive year if the provisional state rank list does not come on time.
According to recent media report, the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body for NEET 2019 has not yet released the rank list for Tamil Nadu state which gives disadvantage to MBBS aspirants who want pursue medical education from the state run medical colleges.
The results of the NEET 2019 for MBBS course were declared on June 5th 2019.

Thereafter, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the tentative schedule for All India Quota counselling for MBBS courses. The processing of seat allotment will be done on 26th June and the result will be announced on the 27th June for the first round of the counselling and the result of the second round of counselling will be declared on 12th July.

After the release of All India rank of the examination by NTA, the Directorate of Medical Education and Selection Committee (TN Health Tamil Nadu) had invited Applications from the candidates vying for MBBS and BDS courses from Tamil Nadu based medical and dental colleges.
The rank list under the state will be tentatively declared on July 2, two days before the single window counselling for the state quota of seats.

The students face disadvantage as the rank list has not arrived yet, because of which they remain unable to calculate their chances based on their ranks and number of seats.
Few students approached the state selection committee and the directorate of medical education to seek information regarding the release of the rank list.
The selection committee secretary Dr G Selvarajan told the TOI, "We will be able to release it only when the NTA releases it to the state." He further informed that the nativity and other relevant certificates will be verified. The list will be issued as soon as it will be given to the state.
The students were in difficulties last year as well when the Tamil Nadu did not release the state rank in 2018. The students, out of confusion did not lock seats in deemed universities with a hope of getting admission at least in self-financing colleges in the state.
By the time, the students who had no idea of their chances of admission in the state would lock their seats under round 1 of all India quota, unable to claim high-rank seats.
However, they can choose to go for the second round but will have to be cautious regarding their choices of seats.
